Iteris Selected as American Traffic Solutions’ Preferred Supplier for Video Detection Technology 7/15/2010 Iteris’ Video Detection System Brings the Benefits of Video Detection to Intersection Safety Camera Technology
SANTA ANA, Calif. – Iteris, Inc. (NYSE Amex: ITI), a leader in the traffic management market that focuses on the application and development of advanced technologies, today announced that the Company has been designated by American Traffic Solutions, Inc.(ATS) as its preferred supplier for those occasions where ATS uses non-invasive video detection technology for its Intersection Safety Camera installations.
Iteris’ video detection system for the ATS safety application consists of a dedicated video camera and an Edge2 processor located at the intersection. When a vehicle crosses into the intersection, the video detection system sends a signal to ATS’ AxsisTM RLC-300 Intersection Safety Camera as an input to ATS’ red light enforcement process.
Using the latest innovations in imaging technology and building upon its experience in providing video detection solutions to public agencies worldwide, Iteris’ video detection system delivers highly accurate detection without having to place any physical detectors in the ground – minimizing environmental impacts while maximizing ease-of-use. Changes in the detection configuration at a location can easily be performed remotely without any field work.
“We are very pleased to have been selected by ATS as its preferred provider for non invasive video detection” stated Mr. Abbas Mohaddes, president and chief executive officer of Iteris. “We are always looking for new and innovative applications to integrate video in ways that make a significant improvement in the safety and efficiency of our roadways. Iteris’ video detection system enables ATS to offer a solution that delivers the benefits of non-invasive video detection to efficiently improve road and intersection safety.”
“ATS is pleased to have Iteris as its preferred partner for non-invasive, video-based detection technology,” said James Tuton, president and chief executive officer of ATS. “Iteris’ video detection solution has enhanced our offerings and has enabled our customers to choose from a full range of detection technologies to help us effectively deter red-light running and improve roadway safety in their communities.”
